Everyone worships something. Everyone makes something their ultimate value – the thing they celebrate and value more than anything else. For some it’s money. Sex. Food. Leisure. Politics. Real estate. Work. Family. God. Whatever.

We were made to worship. It’s hardwired into us.

However, in many churches the whole notion of ‘worship’ has taken a turn for the worse. It can be considered ‘worshiptainment’. It’s a style of ‘worship’ at church which is geared to entertain and impress those who attend. While the hearts of many are probably in the right place, sometimes the style and focus of church music and ‘worship services’ can ironically take the focus off God and his grace.

Here’s a short but provocative post by Mike Livingstone about this trend in the church. Check it out!
